Yoga And Holistic Health

Ramkumar, C.A., Masters Degree in Yoga

The word Yoga is derived from the Sanskrit word ‘yuj’ meaning to bind, join, attach, and yoke – to direct and concentrate one’s attention to use and apply. It also means union or communion.

Patanjali enumerates *eight stages* of yoga for the quest of the soul:

1. Yama: Universal moral commandments
2. Niyama: Self Purification by discipline
3. Asana: Posture
4. Pranayama: Rhythmic control of breath
5. Prathyahara: Withdrawal of mind
6. Dharana: Concentration
7. Dhyana: Meditation
8. Samadi: State of super consciousness

The one who practices the above stages of yoga with discipline, faith, tenacity, and perseverance benefits the best.

Yoga is the path that cultures the body and senses, refines the mind, civilizes the intelligence, and takes rest in the soul that is the core of one’s being.

I have been regularly practicing yoga for over a decade and thought it fit to obtain a Masters Degree in Yoga from a reputed Sports University.

I am also proud to be associated with the Holistic Wellness Club that teaches, practices, and motivates like-minded people to follow holistic health.

Yoga is for the body, mind, and soul.
